After recently attending the Redspot annual managers’ conference at Surfers Paradise, I was genuinely impressed by this iconic Australian holiday destination. Surfers Paradise is definitely Queensland’s events and entertainment capital.

Affordable airfares and a plethora of accommodation styles, the numerous amenities, plus the free community events throughout the year cater for all tastes and travel budgets.

The magnificent beach and boardwalk both come to life at sunrise and stay that way until late at night. But, there is so much more to this buzzy, cosmopolitan town beside sand and sea. Tick-off a theme park or two or three, go tenpin bowling, cuddle a koala, pat a kangaroo or feed the rainbow lorikeets at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.

There is an endless array of restaurants, bars and cafes that cover all dining styles, tastebuds and wallets. On a Wednesday, Friday or Sunday night visit the Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets and enjoy the wide variety of merchant and food stalls while appreciating the free live entertainment.

A glitzy nightlife is also available for those who want to party with stylish pubs, clubs and lounge bars. And, for those who want to shop there is Cavill Avenue and Chevron Renaissance Shopping Centre.

But, what I like best about Surfers is that is the perfect base to also explore the greater Gold Coast region. And, the best way to sightsee is in a Redspot car.

With a Redspot car you can discover the beauty of the world-heritage listed Springbrook Mountain which is home to five waterfalls and one of world’s oldest living forests. Lamington National Park and O’Reilly’s Tree Top Walk are magical day trips and lunch at Tamborine Mountain township is highly recommended. Another must-do is a day trip down the coast to Bryon Bay and the lush beauty of north coast of NSW.

Redspot Car Rentals, 32 Trickett Street, Surfers Paradise is open Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 5.00pm and from 9.00am to 4.30pm on Saturday and Sunday, telephone 07 5527 5318 to make a booking or book online at redspot.com.au.

So, next time you’re contemplating a holiday, look no further than Surfers Paradise and Redspot – both offer great value and are right on your doorstep.
