Redspot joins forces with Enterprise Holdings

Enterprise Holdings – the largest car rental company in the world – has appointed Redspot, Australia’s largest family-owned car rental company, as its franchise partner in Australia and New Zealand.

“We see tremendous opportunity in Australia, where the addition of a new player that’s truly focused on customer service will create healthy competition for customer loyalty,” said Peter A. Smith, Vice President of Global Franchising for Enterprise Holdings, which owns and operates the National Car Rental, Alamo Rent A Car and Enterprise Rent-A-Car brands.

Enterprise Holdings, through its regional subsidiaries, operates the largest fleet of vehicles in the world – approximately 1.5 million – plus a global network of more than 8,600 neighbourhood and airport locations in more than 70 countries. Its Enterprise, National and Alamo brands will become operational later this year through the Redspot network, at all major Australian airports, including the international gateways of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, as well as in key city centres. New Zealand operations will come online in 2016.

Enterprise Holdings and Redspot will launch an aggressive development plan for both markets in order to meet the total transportation needs of domestic and international renters.

“This expansion is the latest milestone in our Asia-Pacific growth strategy,” Smith noted. “We’re careful to choose franchise partners like Redspot who not only have a history of success, but also share our values and commitment to customer service.”

Founded in 1989, Redspot is a leader and innovator in Australia’s car rental industry. “This partnership is a natural fit for us,” said Dan Mekler, Managing Director and founder of Redspot. “Both Enterprise Holdings and Redspot started from a single location, fuelled by an entrepreneurial spirit and an unwavering focus on meeting customer needs. Together, we’ll continue to put travellers first, no matter what their destination is.”

This relationship marks Enterprise Holdings’ entry into the Australian and New Zealand markets. Enterprise Holdings ranks near the top of the travel industry, ahead of many airlines and most cruise lines, hotels, tour operators and online travel agencies. The company’s long-term expansion strategy is focused on building a global network that delivers value, choice and outstanding customer service to business and leisure travellers.

    1. Hi James. We will be honouring all Enterprise, Alamo and National rent a car loyalty programs here in Australia. As for Redspot creating their own similar program, this is up for discussion but nothing set in stone yet. When and if we do, we’ll be sure to make it public.

  1. Over recent years I have been renting Redspot cars annually when we visit Australia from Norway. Rental durations are usually 5-7 weeks. The service is excellent, the cars in good and clean condition, the staff friendly and cooperative.

May this value for money service long continue under these new arrangements

  2. I am looking at booking a car at the end of September. Do you know if I will be able to provide my National Emerald Club information by then? Do I need to boo through Redspot or go through National’s site?

    1. Hi Erich,
That’s the question of the hour. We are progressing as fast as we can to on-board the Enterprise systems, but its more likely to be at least October (if no issues) before we have the ability to accept the Emerald Club members in Australia.

      1. Howdy Brad,
Any update on onboarding with National/Enterprise? I have National Emerald Executive Elite status, along with a number of free rental days, and would like to book a car for Perth in mid February.

        1. Hey Ron,
We are in the process of migrating to the Enterprise systems, which is a very lengthy process. We should be complete by late October 2015, if not earlier. Basically as soon as you see Australia as an option to book via the National/Enterprise websites, you can be sure we can accept your loyalty status at any of our locations in Australia. Definitely by Feb 2016.

  3. Great! I’m a frequent flier into Australia, and regular ERAC user in the UK. Combining the two is nothing but good news!
