With a population of just over 1.23 million, Adelaide is the fifth-largest city in Australia. It is the capital city of South Australia and is located north of the spectacular Fleurieu Peninsula. The city was founded in 1836 and was named in honour of Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen, queen consort to King William IV. While Adelaide was the planned capital for a freely settled British province in Australia, the Kaurna people are still recognised as the traditional owners of the land.

About Adelaide Airport:
Adelaide Airport is the principal airport in South Australia, and the fifth busiest airport in the country. Located adjacent to West Beach, the airport is approximately 6 km from the city-centre. It is easily accessible along sir Donald Bradman Drive and is no further than a 20 minute drive from the CBD.
The new dual international/domestic terminal was opened in 2005 and has received numerous awards, including being named the world’s second-best international airport in 2006. It has been operated privately by Adelaide Airport Limited since May 1998.
