Credit Card Bonds:
If you provide a credit card bond Redspot Car Rentals will authorise it at the start of rental for an amount of $100.00. A credit card authorisation holds or secures an amount on your credit card, allowing Redspot Car Rentals access to the funds in the event additional amounts need to be charged, such as damage liability, rental extension or fuel charges.
A credit card authorisation is not a charge but it will limit the funds available on your credit card. Please note that Redspot Car Rentals is un-able to cancel a pre-authorisation once it has been processed. The pre-authorisation is automatically cancelled by the customer’s credit card provider between 14 – 28 days if the pre-authorisation is not used by Redspot Car Rentals. Please note that the credit card used has to be in the same name as the main driver picking up the rental car.
Note: MC/Visa Debit cards are considered a credit card, and the same rules apply as above.
Local Renters:
To ensure a seamless experience while managing risk, Redspot Car Rentals has a clear policy for first-time local residents renting within 100 kilometers of the Redspot collection branch. These customers must:
- Provide a $1,000 credit card pre-authorisation (security bond) and the rental transaction.
- A Valid Driver’s Licence, matching the credit card.
- Provide one form of proof of address, such as a utility bill from last 3 months that matches drivers licence address.
