A car is ‘mine-spec’ when it comes equipped with heavy-duty equipment and specialised features made to handle the varying conditions and tasks of a mine sight easily. A mine spec car must also meet compliance requirements and make driving safer in the rough terrain of a mine site.

Depends on your plans and other factors! Cost can change because of booking duration, chosen damage excess cover, seasonal factors, and more. That said, the average daily hire rates range from $90 to $300 for smaller vehicles like 4WD utes. For larger vehicles, this can range from $120 to $450.

Yes, our mine spec rental cars usually have a km limit per day. The exact km limit will depend on location. For example, you can get up to 140 km free p/day ($0.30 per excess kilometre + GST) for Redspot mine spec rentals in Regional WA, SA and NT. For QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC and TAS, get up to 130 km free p/day ($0.30 per excess kilometre + GST).

Unfortunately, customers cannot leave personal cars in Redspot’s depot due to limited space. We need those spots for our rental cars! If you need a ride to our depot, please contact our friendly team at (08) 5106 7828 and [email protected]. We may be able to arrange pick-up/drop-off plans with local branch staff, depending on availability.

Yes, you sure can. Book with our All-Inclusive Package to get up to $1500 standard damage liability for commercial and mine spec vehicles. If you book with our Standard Package, you can reduce up to $6200 standard damage liability for commercial and mine spec.

Note: ‘Amount reduced by’ for damage liability excess is dependent on the vehicle type and hire itinerary selected. For any questions, contact our team at 1300 668 810 for all the details.

Unfortunately, Redspot rentals don’t come with sat nav (satellite navigation) or GPS systems. If you need navigational help though, we’re still here for you!

Most of our cars have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto for hands-free navigation. This helps keep you safe while driving – we don’t recommend using your mobile phone in the car without one. 

Please be sure to bring a USB or USB-C connector to use the navigation features in our cars. We do not provide mobile phone connectors, so it’s best to be prepared if you’d like to make full use of these services.

No, at Redspot we value your privacy and do not track or monitor your speed or general activity in our vehicles, including mine-spec cars. That said, be gentle on the pedal! 

If you are caught with a speeding ticket or fine in our vehicles, we won’t be able to pay the fee ourselves. If this happens, we will email the bill to you and charge a $55 admin fee. Be sure to drive within the speed limit and adhere to local road rules for an easy, hassle-free journey.

Yes, some rental cars may have a dashcam or rearview camera installed for safety reasons. Here at Redspot, we value full transparency. That’s why we’ll be sure to tell you whether your vehicle is equipped with either camera in the rental agreement. 

You can drive assured that none of our cars have any internal cameras installed in your rental vehicle. Your privacy is important to us, so we ensure you can hit the road with 100% peace of mind.

If you have filled your rental car with the wrong fuel, don’t panic. Instead, follow these simple steps:

• Safely stop your vehicle ASAP and turn off the engine
• Call Redspot’s 24/7 roadside assistance for a tow to the nearest workshop 
• Wait for assistance and don’t start the engine again 

Diesel petrol in an unleaded car can cause serious engine damage, so it’s best to get professional assistance as soon as you can. 

Hot tip: Always double-check the fuel type displayed in the fuel tank opening of your car rental! This is located either on the fuel cap OR lid flap. Still unsure? Your hire car fuel type is also listed on the vehicle’s key tag.

Yes, you will need to pay a bond on rent with Redspot, similar to the ones you would pay with any other Aussie rental car company. The amount you pay depends on your booking plan and vehicle criteria. With Redspot, this usually ranges between $100 and $1000. 

As long as there are no additional charges at the end of your hire period, the bond will be returned to you on the same card you paid with. If there are any extra charges (damages, late returns, etc.), these may be deducted from the bond before it is refunded. 

Once your hired car is back with us safe and sound, the bond is usually released within 3-5 business days. Time may vary depending on your bank and the debit/credit card provider.

Yes, you absolutely can! Redspot is one of the few Aussie companies that let local P-platers over 21 rent a car with us, mine-spec and commercial vehicles included. 

Our top priority is keeping you safe, so we have a few rules and regulations designed to make sure you reach your destination in one piece. 

If you are a P-plater, you must:

• Hold a Provisional P2 licence (green Ps).
• Hold a driver’s licence that is valid for a minimum of 12 months from the date of rental collection.

Remember to factor in our daily surcharge when you rent a vehicle with us. This surcharge applies to all drivers holding an Australian provisional driver’s licence. Keep in mind that P-platers can also reduce damage cover to a maximum of $330. 

Aged between 21 and 25? You have access to our range of small to medium-sized sedans and hatchbacks. Provisional drivers over the age of 25 can enjoy renting any vehicle available from our entire fleet.

No, refunds are unavailable for any fuel left in your hire car after you’ve wrapped up business in Newman. For other refuel options, you can choose to only get charged for the fuel you’ve used. Please note that this comes at a higher rate than prepayment. Alternatively, you can refuel your rental vehicle before returning to avoid extra charges (we’ll also be really grateful!).
