At Redspot, we understand that Mother Nature doesn’t always play fair. Severe weather events and natural disasters can strike without warning, disrupting travel plans and putting both people and vehicles at risk. Our Fair Disaster Policy is designed to provide clarity, fairness, and peace of mind to our customers during these unexpected events.
1. Safety First
- The safety of our customers and staff is the top priority.
- If severe weather warnings are issued (e.g. by the Bureau of Meteorology), we encourage customers to avoid driving in affected areas wherever possible.
2. Waiver of Fees in Declared Disaster Zones
- If a natural disaster (cyclone, bushfire, major flood, or government-declared disaster event) prevents you from collecting, using, or returning your rental vehicle, Redspot will:
- Waive cancellation or amendment fees for affected bookings.
- Allow extensions or early returns without penalty, subject to availability.
3. Damage to Vehicles from Natural Disasters
- If a rental vehicle is damaged as a direct result of a declared natural disaster while you followed all safety advice and parking instructions:
- Redspot will cap customer liability to the agreed Damage Liability Waiver (DLW) or the amount covered under optional protection purchased.
- If you took reasonable steps (e.g. parked in safe areas, avoided floodwaters), we will not pursue additional charges for “negligence.”
4. Alternative Transport Support
- Where possible, Redspot will assist in arranging alternative transport or a replacement vehicle if your rental is rendered unusable due to a disaster.
- In cases where vehicle supply is impacted, priority will be given to customers with essential travel needs (e.g. medical, family emergencies).
5. Communication During Events
- Customers will be notified promptly of any branch closures, restricted services, or major travel disruptions.
- Affected customers may contact our Disaster Response Team for urgent support.
6. Fairness to All Customers
- This policy balances customer care with the realities of fleet management during natural disasters.
- We reserve the right to verify claims of disaster impact via official emergency declarations.
