Can I choose the type of car I drive with a short-term hire?
Yes, at Redspot you can choose from any type of car offered in that branch’s fleet! From hired trucks to sturdy 4WD, you can make your trip that much easier by picking the right vehicle for the job.
Please note that some restrictions on vehicle selection may apply to drivers under 25.
Can I take my short-term rental car into another state?
Yes, you can absolutely take your short-term rental car into another state. Just be sure to tick the ‘drop off at a different location’ option when you are booking your vehicle.
You may also be restricted from taking a short-term car rental across states, depending on the location you are going to, and the type of vehicle you have booked.
Can you write off a car as a business expense in Australia?
Yes, as an Australian business owner, you can claim a tax deduction for car-related expenses used in running your business.
However, for income tax purposes, a car is defined as a motor vehicle designed to carry less than 9 passengers, and can carry a load of less than one tonne. That means you may be able to write off a minivan or minibus hire as a business expense. If you are using a car for business and private use, you must be able to correctly identify and justify the percentage you are claiming as business use as well.
Is Insurance included with short term rental?
Yes, at Redspot, basic insurance is included with all our hired cars to ensure your safety.
Can I extend or modify my rental period?
Yes, absolutely! To extend your rental period, you just have to contact the Redspot branch you hired your vehicle from. You can also call our toll-free number at 1300 668 810.
Please note that this will affect your rental rate. Our friendly Redspot team can confirm your final rental fees for peace of mind before you get back on the road.
What are the requirements to rent a car short-term with Redspot?
To rent a short term rental car with Redspot, you will need to be at least 21 years old. You will also need:
- A valid credit card or debit card* or purchase order/prepaid voucher**.
- A valid driver’s licence and the licence of any other drivers using the car. Licence not in English? Please present an official translation from your embassy or home nation’s traffic authority.
- Does your licence show your current address? If not, please provide documented proof of address, such as a utility bill.
- If you are not an Australian citizen, you must provide your passport.
*Debit cards: Must have the customer’s name displayed, and the ability to make online payments e.g. Visa or Mastercard debit cards.
**Purchase order or prepaid vouchers: Customers must also supply a valid credit card or Visa/Mastercard debit card for any incidental expenses (extensions, fuel charges, etc.).
