Can you write off a minibus as a corporate expense in Australia?
Yes, as an Australian corporate owner, you can claim a tax deduction for car-related expenses used in running your business, including for minibuses. However, a 12-seater minibus may not be deductible as a general business travel or transport expense, as it does not meet the definition of a standard ‘car’ for tax deduction purposes.
For income tax purposes, a car is defined as a motor vehicle designed to carry less than 9 passengers and has a load less than one tonne. Consider consulting with an accountant to determine the correct classifications and documentation for writing off a minibus hire.
Do corporate Minibuses come with roadside assistance?
Yes, at Redspot, all our vehicles, including corporate minibuses, come with 24/7 roadside assistance as part of your general package. So you can feel safe on the road knowing we’ll be there to take care of you if anything mechanical goes wrong.
Do I have to sign a rental agreement when picking up a corporate minibus?
All of your car rental agreements are managed ahead of time in the corporate Connect & Go account, including for minibus hire. All a driver needs to do is add their driver’s licence and then scan their Show & Go card at the pick-up location.
Are personal uses allowed on corporate vehicle rentals?
Vehicles used as part of Redspot’s corporate car rental package are intended for business use only. However, the exact usage for each rental should be agreed upon between an employee and the business.
Can I rent a vehicle for a one-way trip through corporate rental programs?
Yes, you can hire a corporate rental one-way under your business account. Simply select the pick-up and drop-off location needed, and then choose from the available car types.
Interstate one-way rentals:
- You can book a one-way corporate hire between our East Coast branches (QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS), subject to vehicle availability.
Restricted state one-way rentals:
- Due to the remoteness of certain branches (NT, SA, WA), one-way hire is only available between Redspot branches within the state/territory from which it is rented.

Can drivers under 25 years old rent a corporate car?
Unfortunately, young drivers are not able to rent a minibus, but they have access to any of our compact and economy cars under a corporate package. Drivers over 25 can drive any car rental.
