What will I need to bring when I collect my rental car from the Redspot Lidcombe branch?
There are a few documents you need to present before you can begin your Lidcombe travels. They are:

Redspot offers one-way car hires (also known as vehicle relocations) between our Sydney locations. Wherever you want to finish up your time in the Harbour City, we’re happy to accommodate!

What is the maximum age to hire a car at the Redspot Lidcombe branch?
Redspot has no maximum age for car rentals. However many years young you are, you can pick up a vehicle at our Lidcombe branch for work or play.
Can P-platers hire cars in New South Wales?
Thanks to Redspot, you can! Unlike many other Australian car hire companies, Redspot allows P-platers over 21 to rent a car in NSW.
To ensure your journey is a safe one, we have a few rules that are designed to make sure your journey goes off without a hitch.
If you’re a P-plater, you must:
- Have held your driver’s licence for a minimum of 1 year.
- Have a driver’s licence that is valid for a minimum of 12 months from the date of rental collection.
Please also keep in mind our daily surcharge. This surcharge applies to all drivers holding an Australian provisional driver’s licence. In addition, P-platers can reduce damage cover to a maximum of $330.
Drivers between the ages of 21 and 25 can access our range of small to medium-sized sedans and hatchbacks. Provisional drivers over the age of 25 can enjoy renting any available Redspot vehicle.Check out our Provisional Drivers page for all the details you need for your car rental journey.

What is the Lidcombe after hours process?
For after hours pick-up, please contact our Lidcombe branch to check vehicle availability. We’ll confirm our available fleet and match you with a quality vehicle to suit your needs.
For after hours drop-off, head to our Lidcombe location where a key drop box is available 24/7. Simply park your rental car at the designated Redspot car park bay and return keys at the branch drop box. Too easy!
What is the cancellation policy for Redspot?
We know that life can get in the way of fulfilling your car rental. With Redspot, there’s no need to stress, as we generally do not charge cancellation fees.
If your booking is prepaid, this may vary. Get in touch with your local branch to get a specific answer for your rental.
Do I need a credit card to rent a car with Redspot?
When collecting your vehicle, you’ll need to present a valid credit card or debit card in the renter’s name.
Do I have to pay a bond to rent a car with Redspot?
Yes, you will need to pay a bond to rent with Redspot. The exact dollar amount will depend on your booking plan and vehicle criteria. Amounts range from $100-$1000.

Is there a kilometre limit on my Redspot rental car?
Most vehicles hired from our Lidcombe branch have no kilometre restrictions, perfect for any road trip!
However, some of our commercial vehicles for hire may come with kilometre restrictions. This includes some vans, utes and trucks. Please check your plan before setting off on your journey.
Do I have to refuel my car before I arrive?
When it comes to refuelling your Redspot rental car, you have a few options:
- You can refuel the vehicle before returning it. Please fill up your vehicle right before you return it to avoid extra charges.
- You can prepay for the full tank your vehicle contains at the start of your rental. You’ll pay a discounted rate, and you won’t need to worry about refilling the vehicle before returning it. (There’s no refund for unused fuel.)
- We can refill the vehicle for you and charge you for the fuel you’ve used. If you choose this option, you’ll pay a higher rate.
Is there a petrol station nearby the Redspot Lidcombe branch?
Our conveniently located Lidcombe car rental branch is nearby many petrol stations, such as:
- Ampol – Corner of Stubbs St and Parramatta Rd (1.2km away).
- Metro Petroleum – 134 John St (1.3km away).
- Shell – 18 Parramatta Rd (1.6km away).
Can I rent a car with an international driver’s licence?
Yes, temporary visitors can use their overseas driver’s licences to rent vehicles from Redspot!
If you’re planning to stay for longer than 3 months, you may need to transition to a local driver’s licence. The exact rules to follow will depend on the state or territory you’re travelling in.
If your licence is not in English, we’ll need you to get a translated version from your embassy or traffic authority in your home country. You also need to adhere to the conditions of your licence when travelling in Australia.

Can I return my hire car early?
To keep your travels stress-free, we accommodate early returns when your plans change. There is no refund for early returns – unless you’ve booked through our All-Inclusive rate!
Do you need a hire car in western Sydney?
Western Sydney is the best of both worlds. When you pick up your Lidcombe hire car, it’s easy to travel into inner Sydney or to the Blue Mountains and beyond.
With a hire car, you can travel from Coogee Beach to Wollongong to Mount Tomah and back again! It’s the ideal way to explore Sydney.
Do Redspot rental cars in Australia have GPS systems?
Unfortunately, Redspot cars do not come with GPS systems. If you need navigational help though, never fear!
Most Redspot cars are equipped with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, which allows hands-free navigation. This helps keep you safe while driving – we don’t recommend using your mobile phone for navigation otherwise.
Bring along a USB or USB-C connector to use the location services available in-car facilities. We do not provide mobile phone connectors, so it’s best to come prepared in case you’d like to make full use of these services.
What is the minimum age to rent a car from Redspot?
The minimum age to rent a car from Redspot is 21. Drivers under the age of 25 are required to pay a surcharge and can only rent out small to medium-sized sedans and hatchbacks.
If you’re between the ages of 21 and 24, you cannot reduce their damage cover below $330.
