**Contract fee: We have a small surcharge to cover our costs to draw up our rental agreement with you.

We also have after-hours drop-off available at this location. Just follow the signs to find the designated car rental car park and leave your keys in the 24/7 dropbox. You can find it at our counter in the main arrivals terminal.
Surfers Paradise

O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat
Located just an hour and a half away from the Gold Coast, O’Reilly’s Rainforest can be easily reached by the Lamington National Park Road. The road is fully sealed and is challenging enough for you to experience a gravel-road roller coaster on your way to a stunning rainforest paradise. Once you’ve reached the top, you’ll experience gorgeous canopy walks, bird feeding and a sweeping overview of the Scenic Rim.
Tambourine Mountain Loop
This challenging but fun path can be found less than an hour away from our branch in Surfers Paradise. Take the winding road of the Goat Track through hairpin bends, narrow sections where your SUV’s stability will shine as you make your way around the Tamborine National Park. You’ll find plenty of Gallery Walk shops, wineries, short rainforest walks and the beautiful Curtis Falls lookout along your trail.
Stanthorpe
At almost three hours of driving, this trip requires a bit more commitment, but it is well worth the effort. Stanthorpe is a charming mountain town with a rich cultural heritage, incredible natural beauty and a vibrant community. Explore winery trails, visit Girraween National Park and use the extra SUV space for food hauls with produce from quality local farms.
Glass House Mountains
This breathtaking destination is around an hour and a half drive from the Gold Coast CBD. An SUV’s higher clearance makes it a perfect choice for seeing more from striking lookout points and sealed roads that go past over 11 volcanic plugs like Mt Beerwah and Tibogargan. Can you hire an SUV to go one way?
Yes, absolutely! You can hire a one-way SUV rental from many of Redspot’s branches. Just pick up your rental in the Gold Coast and drop off in Cairns, Sydney, Melbourne and more.
However, our one-way rentals usually come with a drop fee (aka one-way fees) to cover the cost of moving the vehicles back to their original branch. This fee amount will be shown to you during the online booking process, so you know what you are paying for from day 1 and can easily compare prices.
Interstate one-way rentals:
- You can book one-way SUV hire between our East Coast branches (QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS), subject to vehicle availability.
Restricted state one-way rentals:
- Due to the remoteness of certain branches (NT, SA, WA), one-way hire is only available between Redspot branches within the state/territory from which it is rented.

Do you install baby seats for us?
No, unfortunately we are not able to install baby seats in your hire car for liability reasons.
Safety is our number one priority at Redspot. We voluntarily comply with Australian state laws and safety policies, and therefore cannot install child seats for customers. However, we do offer detailed instructions on how to install a baby seat as safely and securely as possible during vehicle pick-up.
What is the age requirement to hire an SUV with Redspot?
You must be 25 years and over to hire our full range of SUVs on the Gold Coast. For young drivers between 21 and 25, you can hire any of our compact and economy SUVs instead.
Can I hire an SUV with a foreign licence?
Yes, temporary overseas visitors can hire a car, but you must have:
- A full, valid driver’s licence and passport.
- Licences must have photo identification.
- If the licence is not in English, you will need an officially translated document from your embassy or road traffic authority in your home country.
- Some countries may need to apply for an international driving permit.
Can I book a long-term SUV rental?
Yes, we offer long-term SUV rentals for both personal use and businesses. Just enter your booking requirements or call our friendly team to find the right long-term booking for you.
Can I take a rental SUV off-road?
Only our 4WD car hires are suitable for off-road driving. In a standard SUV, it’s best to stick to sealed roads to ensure you are safe and covered under insurance.
Is a standard SUV or an intermediate SUV bigger?
In general, our standard SUVs are bigger than our intermediate SUVs and offer more passenger or cargo space. Our intermediate SUVs are midsize or crossovers and may have improved fuel efficiency over standard SUVs.
How many passengers do your SUVs fit?

What is a premium SUV rental?
