What are the kilometre limits for a van rental?
Our 1.5 and 2 tonne vans have a kilometre limit of 100km per day. To ensure our vans are in top shape to carry bulky cargo, we impose a kilometre limit and extra maintenance.
That doesn’t mean you can’t drive over 100km in a day. If you do need to go over the 100km/day limit, we will simply add a $0.30/km fee to your final invoice.

Is it easy to drive in Port Macquarie?
It’s typically easier to drive in Port Macquarie because it’s a smaller city with less traffic and congestion than a large mainland city. However, like most of Australia, you must be aware of wildlife like kangaroos outside of the city.
What does your insurance cover for van rentals?
All of our vehicle rentals include basic insurance with cover for damage liability and third-party damage liability if the event was not your fault. As standard, you will have an excess amount in the event of a claim.
You can upgrade to our all-inclusive package to reduce your excess.You can also add-on windscreen or tyre damage cover.
What fees may I be charged for a van hire?
We have no hidden fees; you can see them all upfront before you book. Some fees you may run into include:
- Additional drivers are charged at $11 per day per driver. Alternatively, you can upgrade to our all-inclusive package for free additional drivers.
- The km limit is 150km per day (unless contractually different). If you drive over this, then you could be charged $0.30 per km on your final invoice.
Are there height restriction roads in Port Macquarie?
There are no height-restricted roads with bridges or underpasses in Port Macquarie.
However, you should always plan your route ahead of time if you’re leaving the region. Both our 1-tonne and 1.5-tonne vans fall under 3-4 meters.
How do I keep my items from moving around?
When loading, pack each item tightly to minimise how much room your items have to move. Be sure to pack heavier items against the van’s walls.
We recommend hiring our moving accessories to keep your items safely strapped with ropes and ratchet straps.
Please be very careful! If you get a fine in one of our vehicles, we won’t be able to pay the fee ourselves. In this case, we will email the bill to you and charge a $55 admin fee. Ultimately, it’s best for all of us if you adhere to local road rules, check your lanes and make your journey as hassle-free as possible.
Can I rent a van with a normal licence?
At Redspot, you can absolutely rent a van with a normal licence! We allow any class C licence holder to rent a truck or van from us.
Can Redspot vans move interstate?
Yes, depending on your location and plans! If you return your Redspot van to the same location you picked it up from, you’re free to roam the interstate with ease.
Interstate one-way rentals:
- You can book one-way van hire between our East Coast branches (QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS), subject to vehicle availability.
Restricted state one-way rentals:
- Due to the remoteness of certain branches (NT, SA, WA), one-way van hire is only available between Redspot branches within the state/territory from which it is rented.

Can I rent a van from 21 years of age?
Unfortunately, young drivers between 21 and 25 can only hire our small to medium sedans and hatchbacks. You must be over 25 to hire a van.
