There is no set maximum rental period on a Redspot van rental. The longest amount of time you can rent one of our vans is determined on a case-by-case basis.
Do Redspot moving vans have unlimited km?
While most standard hire cars come with unlimited km, Redspot does impose a 100km p/day limit on vans, trucks and utes to help us sustain the fleet. In remote locations such as Alice Springs or Darwin, we also have a 200km p/day limit to ensure our vehicles remain well-maintained and prepared for the unique demands of the Australian outback.

What types of vans are available for long term car hire?
At Redspot, we have 1.5-tonne commercial moving vans (Iveco Daily or similar) and 2-tonne commercial moving vans (Toyota HiAce or similar) available for hire.
Can you write off a van as a business expense in Australia?
Yes, as an Australian corporate owner, you can claim a tax deduction for car-related expenses used in running your business, including for minibuses. However, a 12-seater minibus may not be deductible as a general business travel or transport expense, as it does not meet the definition of a standard ‘car’ for tax deduction purposes.
For income tax purposes, a car is defined as a motor vehicle designed to carry less than 9 passengers and has a load lower than one tonne. Consider consulting with an accountant to determine the correct classifications and documentation for writing off a minibus hire.
Is Insurance included with long term rental?

What are the requirements to rent a van long-term with Redspot?
To hire a long term rental car with Redspot, you will need to be at least 25 years old. You will also need:
- A valid credit card or debit card* or purchase order/prepaid voucher**.
- A valid driver’s licence and the licence of any other drivers using the car. Licence not in English? Please present an official translation from your embassy or home nation’s traffic authority.
- Does your licence show your current address? If not, please provide documented proof of address, such as a utility bill.
- If you are not an Australian citizen, you must provide your passport.
*Debit cards: Must have the customer’s name displayed, and the ability to make online payments e.g. Visa or Mastercard debit cards.
